How long should my Acer Swift 5 last with a full charge

I just got it and Windows' estimation is kinda all over the place. Usually it will hover around 4-5 hours when the battery percentage is above 90% but will sometimes go a bit more than 6 hours. Is this normal? Like I said I just got it and I'm not actually sure how long it lasts, but from the marketing, it said the maximum would be around 12 hours in which its theoretical maximum usage in one charge would be. So I'm assuming that the average would be at around 8 hours of use but Windows often says it's less. Should I be worried that my new laptop isn't displaying the amount of time it should be lasting, did I get a defective device?

Yes, it takes time for Windows to learn the battery, and often it still ends up confused and needs a recalibration. You end up getting the best numbers after several full discharge/recharge cycles and they work best if you leave the system off during the recharge. Once it's well calibrated you should get fairly accurate numbers, though changes in usage patterns during your session will change the actual life.
