I recently purchased an Acer Aspire  e5-575g on eBay. The label an the back says E5-575G-50MF, but on checking the bios I get F5-573G, the serial numbers on the label and in the bios are also different. I contacted the seller and this is the answer I got "E5-575 and F5-573 are exactly the same. they use the same motherboards. They must have put F5-573 motherboard inside when they refurbished it." Is this true or are they trying to pull the wool over my eyes?

I doubt they're the same, but they could very well be.

The code for the boards seem to be common in some of sub-models, even though they're provided with different firmware versions in their respective support pages and the versions are indeed different, the IDs for the board seems to be the same (ZAA, ZAA2, ZAA3 and ZAA4) except the 575G has support for an extra sub-model codenamed ZAAR.

Either way, check if the eBay listing had specified the actual sub-model of the line. Like what you posted, E5-575G is the model -50MF is the sub-model. That identifies exactly what kind of hardware the machine has (e.g. tone sub-model could come with 4 GB or RAM and another with 8 or have a different graphics card).

If the listing specified the sub-model you can hold them accountable for it and check that every single one of the specs is what they're supposed to be. Being refurbished makes things more difficult of course, because they could have changed components secondary components like the RAM or hard drive.

But still, they may be correct in their affirmation that the motherboards for (some) 575Gs are the same as those of 573Gs. I'd be wary though, since that's something they did not disclose, that they had actually swapped the motherboard for another one.
