Acer Aspire XC-886 PC Intel i7-9700, 16GB RAM, 1024GB SSD, Intel UHD-Grafik 630

Hi guys,

is it possible to put a ASUS GeForce GTX 1650 OC low profile graphics card in the above mentioned PC (which I just bought) on the original power supply (220 Watts)? I prefer not to exchange the PSU if possible. I know that 300 Watts are recommended, but would it still work. I am not a "real" gamer by hart, but I would love to play the new MS Flight Simulator 2020! :-)

If I need to update the power supply unit, which one would you recommend? I've read today that the form factor of the PSU is very unusual? I'm not an expert an would be very greatful for an explicit recommendation of er certain PSU that fits the case, if needed.

Finally, would it also be possible to use a normal no-low-profile graphics card in above mentioned setup in the small
XC-886 PC (e.g. a 6GB MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER VENTUS XS OC V375-279R or similar)?

Your help would be very much appreciated, I'm quite lost at the moment! Many thanks in advance!

Best,

Short answer, no. Longer answer, it might run occasionally, but every time the GPU tried to pull more power than available you'd get some weird crash. You really ought to upgrade the PSU if you're planning on putting a graphic card in.

Dear billsey, many thanks. Which type of PSU is needed for the XC-886? I searched the web, but am not able to identify a replacement opportunity with 300 watts or above. Do you have a recommendation what to purchase and where? Many thanks! Best, Markus

The XC-886 has a smaller than normal supply, though there are third party versions available. Yours is a 220W and I'd look for at least 300W for your plans. You are looking for a Mini-ITX / Flex-ATX power supply.

For the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 DDR5 and DDR6 cards need a recommended system power of 300W and your Acer Aspire XC-886 comes with an OEM 220W hence, the PS will not be able to power the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 DDR5 and DDR6 cards. Change your PS like "billsey" said and then you will have no problems, simple. see the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 DDR5 and DDR6 cards specs here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/gtx-1650/
