When travelling to Ireland, I am concious that my US laptops (Acer Aspire 5) power adaptor may not work there to charge etc? Does anyone know if I need to be careful regarding same ie - Could I damage the laptop with a power surge etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Kind regards

If they are the original power adapter no, you have nothing to worry about because the output is rectified and smoothed so they should output the same regardless.

The only problem you could run into could be the different input voltage or frequency, but that will never damage the laptop, if at all it'd damage the power adapter. Still, it is easy to check (and they generally make them universal as well).

Look at the label on the power adapter and verify its input, for example, here's mine:

In Ireland the standard is 220v at 50 Hz if I'm not mistaken, you'd just need a plug adapter and that's it.
