Why is my dc connector getting so hot that the tip melts?

Recently I've been running into multiple issues where my ac adapter's DC connector, the part that goes into the computer, gets far to hot in a matter of seconds. I can't charge it because if I leave it in it gets so hot that the plastic tip melts, and then port itself gets damaged as well. This issue has already claimed two adapters and a port and I'd rather not blow anymore money on this laptop as it's far from the first issue I've had with it and I've only had the laptop a year.

Some more info, the brick doesn't get anywhere near the temperature of the connector.
