Greetings, folks!

I'm making videos and working with 3D.
But need to have Chrome up and running.
So, 16GB is not enough from time to time.

Currently, I'm curious about RAM Upgrades:
  • Can it run properly with 64GB RAM? (I know, that officially, it doesn't, by my 10yo Acer was limited to 8 (6, actually, due to only one slot was replaceable), but I'm using it with 10GB in total). The price for dual 32GB is not that big, so why not. But I need to be sure, that they're at least working, even not compatible officially.

  • Can it work with KVR26S19D8/16, KCP426SD8/16, or CMSX16GX4M1A2666C18 on their full 2666MHz? Kingston has Dual Rank support, which is better.
  • Can someone explain the difference between KVR26S19D8/16 and KCP426SD8/16? Their specs look exactly the same!

UPD: Seems like KCP are "Specially tested for compatibility with some devices" when KVR is a generic model, that may run with mostly anything. It is better not to mix them up. The support for KVR can be checked on the Kingston website and seems that this 16GB module is supported.

But I'm still curious about 32GB modules. I mean, have you launched any heavy work these days? We will end up with 64GB for sure!  ;)

UPD2: dual KCP426SD8/16 setup works like a charm! I've tried all my common workloads and never exceeded 24 GB, usually staying at 10-16.

ASMR personally i only use hyperx or vengeance if you want the best performance thats the best you can get for proper dual channel and no none of the newer models support 64gb the predator 17 for ex supports 64gb as it has 4 sodimm slots but none with only 2 slots supports 64 only 32 max officially also for the best performance you want CL15 ram 2666 for 8th gen and up or CL14 2400 for 7th gen and ryzen  :)

Thanks for reaching out, even it's a bit too late in my case, since I'm using the new RAM already.

Hyperx is just a sub-brand for Kingston, which I'm using now after checks and tests. Since it's dual-rank, it feels very nice even with CL17. I'm using Corsair Vengeance on the previous laptop (from Lenovo), it's pretty good too, but I wanted to test something else too)

ASMR hyperx its not just a sub brand its the best ram on the market for gaming laptops (hyperx division its completely separated from kingston ) and yes vengeance its also the next best i dont have my hyperx anymore as i bought 2666 and my cpu only supports 2400 i sold it to a co worker with a nitro 5 8th gen and bought 32gb vengeance 2400 the hyperx benchmarks a bit higher but not any significantly high after all its just from CL15 (in my case) to 17 also i wont recommend or not recommend anything i havent used  myself before :)

Yeah, I was reading a lot of reviews and with HyperX 2666 CL15 a lot of people faced issues, that it works as single-channel memory with 9-10 gen Intel laptops. And instead, Kingston just works. So, I decided not to risk, anyway, for me the main issue was the size of the original ram, 16GB isn't enough for video editing these days. With 32GB dual-channel, dual-rank, 2666MHz, well, it works very nicely. Maybe, it would work better, but I decided not to risk.
