Can I use the power button if the laptop keyboard is not connected to the mother board (a315-41g)?

My keyboard has stopped working recently so I decided to disconnect the cable from the mother board. But since the a315-41g model has power button on the keyboard's keys, can I still used the power button? Sorry for the noob question I am new to this.

Not that noob of a question, the answer is that it's possible, just way to complex for your undertaking maybe.

Mainly because you'd have to trace which of the signals the keyboard is sending when you press that key, then "fabricate" or modify the keyboard cable so it is wired to a button of sorts that sends the signal when pressed. Or maybe trace the signal to where it lands and short that connection with a button, but without schematics it's not an easy job.

Feasible? Most likely. Recommended? Not even close, the amount of skill and tools (multimeter, soldering station, ...) required FAR outcosts the price of a new keyboard for the machine most likely (I don't recall, is that keyboard also bolted with plastic to the palmrest?).

Another option, that could be possible depending on what the BIOS allows you to configure, is to turn on the machine on input from an USB port. Not many allow that, but if it does it could be a workaround. Don't know about your system though, it's just an idea.
