FPS Drops on Helios 300

When playing any game, light or heavy load, I get these short frame drops every few seconds. The FPS will drop from say, 120 to 40 for a split second, then jump right back up. I know this isn't a result of thermal throttling, as this occurs in light games such as Minecraft, which have a low CPU/GPU usage, as well as low temps. My power settings in control panel and nvidia control panel aren't the issue either. Any idea what could fix this issue?

Specs:
i7-8750H
GTX 1060 6GB
16GB RAM

I suspect that maybe a different nvidia driver version may help(currently using latest), but I have no idea what version would work best.

Sakuraleif i assume youre gaming on AC and not on battery correct also assuming your ram its in dual channel 2x8 and not a single 16gb sodimm  you can try an older driver (the latest its not the best especially for old gpus) also check your temps also if you havent optimised your windows properly please do so and undervolt check here the cpu shouldnt go above 85'ish and gpu 70/75 max good luck :)
