Windows 8 problems in Acer 5560G

Hello Everyone,

I have an Acer 5560G which came with a preinstalled 64bit Win 7 home premium. Couple of months ago, i did a fresh installation of Windows 8 64 bit (that i got from MSDNA) and downloaded and installed VGA, Audio, and Touchpad drivers for win 8 from Acer's website. Couple of days after install, i ran into problems. The HDD indicator would flash continuously and the system would freeze. A restart would solve nothing at all. Finally, tired of all that, I used the recovery disk to switch back to win 7. Nothing like that happens in win 7. I have a hp netbook where i installed windows 8 32 bit (downloaded from same site) and never had a problem.

Recently, I tried installing 64 bit Ubuntu into my system in a different partition i created with Easus partition manager and later formatted with Gparted. (i have to install Ubuntu as it is part of my study curriculum). It installed fine but Ubuntu would not boot. So, i tried reinstalling it and saw the option "replace Ubuntu with Ubuntu 12.01" or "install Ubuntu 12.01 over Ubuntu" or sth like that. I used that option and it installed Ubuntu, but deleted all the other partitions (including recovery and win 7), changed disk system from MBR to GPT. Now, all i have is the option to install win 8 i got from MSDNA. I saw in some sites that GPT installation would give problems like not being able to shut down in Acer systems and such. Is there a way to get around that and to safely install Win 8 without having to worry about HDD indicator flashing indefinitely or shut down issues?

edit: I installed Win 8 nevertheless and i had to hold the power button down to shut down while restarting during installation. The shut down works fine but restart doesn't work. I haven't had flashing hdd indicator issue yet but it starts usually after some days, so will wait and see if that problem resurfaces.
