What is needed to have dual monitors with a Spin3? Is it even possible?

    The best solution is going to depend a lot on which Spin 3 you have, there are a lot of different models. In some you just connect to the HDMI port on the laptop, on some you'll have to either have the port types that @aphanic describe or a docking station with appropriate video outputs.

    By dual monitors we're to understand "displaying different things" right?

    For that what you need is either a Thunderbolt port, or a USB type C that implements a video alt mode like DisplayPort for example. That and a matching screen of course.

    Check the specifications of your machine for any of those things and you're gold, but not that USB type C connectors not always have alt modes implemented. Knowing you have one isn't enough, you need to verify what kind it is so to speak.
