K272HUL resolution issues

I got a K272HUL from work to connect to my home PC (Dell XPS 8300, Windows 10, HDMI connection). Right now it's the only monitor connected, but I plan to add another.

Unfortunately, no matter what combinaton of Windows settings + Acer settings I try, nothing is quite right.
  1. 1920x1200 & "Full" is the best I can get right now. The display fills the monitor, but the aspect ratio is just a little too wide. It's not horrible, but enough to bother me when it comes to gaming and videos.
  2. 1920x1200 & "Aspect" results in 3" black bars on either side of the monitor, and the aspect ratio is too narrow.
  3. 1920x1080 & "Full" pushes the edges of the display off the edge of the monitor, but the aspect ratio looks correct.
  4. 1920x1080 & "Aspect" looks exactly the same as the previous.
  5. 1920x1200 & "1:1" results in a thick black border that's about 3" on the sides, and 1 1/4" on the top & bottom. But the aspect ratio looks correct. This is probably the second most preferable setting.
  6. 1920x1080 & "1:1" is similar to the previous, but the top & bottom are now 1 3/4". Aspect ratio still looks correct.
So I guess what I'm looking for is a way to take #1 and shrink it horizontally.
Or take #2 and expand it horizontally.
Or take #5 and expand it in all directions.
I assume that any of these options will leave small black bars on the sides, which I'm totally fine with if it means correct aspect ratio.

Any insight very much appreciated!

Isn't the K272HUL a 2560x1440 monitor? The GPU used in that old Dell should be able to do that resolution. Which GPU is installed?

Hi billsey, sorry for the month+ delay. My GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 6700 series. It has the latest driver installed. According to the specs:
    Max Resolution Details           DVI: 2560 x 1600 / VGA: 2048 x 1536

So I guess I'm just not sure how to pull up those settings to match my monitor.
