Difficulties connecting to Hotel Wifis

Hi all,
I've been having difficulties connecting to hotel wifis some hotels I cannect to and some I cant. I'm in a hotel at the moment and doing this message on my phone throughout the same router and some colleagues also I  the hotel have no problems connecting up so this tells me its specific to my laptop. Has anyone else had any problems connecting their computers to wifis my computer is a Swift SF314-54

Do you have troubles at home with it as well? How strong of a signal is it showing? Hotel WiFi is often no different than any other WiFi, except they are typically in really noisy (RFwise) environments.

No, no problem at home and not all hotels. Sometime it works but most of the time it doesnt. I stayed in the same hotel a few months ago and had the same problem so I asked reception to get in touch with their IT who asked for my MAC number then it started to work. Weird ....

I wonder if that hotel had their DHCP set wrong. I've seen that in a couple of places I've stayed. They set the DHCP up so a device has a fixed lease time and then run out of addresses before the time has expired. One I saw only allowed 254 devices in total and even though the place had something like 15-20 rooms they'd run out. I was able to explain it well enough to their IT guy that he could fix it by setting lease time to one hour and they comped me a day.

The reception has been in touch with iT so just waiting on a come back. Will post on here if it gets resolved before I leave on Thursday.
