I can't find a way to disable the keyboard backlight timeout. I'd like it to be always on (whenever my laptop is). Its incredibly annoying and reduces the whole point of having a backlight imo.

I found a question/answer* which solves the problem for other models but not mine. Is this posting being updated (as other models get the BIOS Update)? Obviously it is only useful to me if it gets updated (but I have no idea if it does):

I also found this more recent posting** which has similar instructions involving BIOS Updates but it doesn't mention any restrictions to the models AT ALL.

Does that mean this will work for my model (SP515-51N) or would I be wasting my time?

Note:I have never done a BIOS update before and I don't want to risk it if (like I suspect) this wont work for my model.
Seriously this should list model restrictions if there are any (unless this now works for all models now).

So:
Will this method (or any other) work for my laptop NOW?
And if not, WHEN will there be a BIOS Update for my model? I can't keep arbitrarily checking these threads. I need some sort of schedule prediction or some sign that its at least gonna happen!

If one isn't forthcoming for my model is there any way put in a request for one???
(or at least send a complaint about this, I've seen that this isn't a recent problem there are posts on this for varying models going back years.)

Good policy! BIOS firmware updates are much riskier than device driver software update. If things go haywire, they are much harder to reverse. With that said, like the rest of us users here, keep checking for BIOS firmware updates at this link that specifically address the KB backlight timeout issue.https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7383?b=1. As I'm typing this, your model hasn't been addressed yet. And nobody here can really give you a ballpark estimate of when or even if it'll show up. In my own case, this particular annoyance doesn't rise to the level of risking adverse side effects or worse by messing with a firmware update.  Jack E/NJ
