I installed a new Windovs 7 Ultimate Service pack 1 on an old Acer Aspire 5810 TZG. The problem is that it seems as the network adapter (Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller) not can manage WiFi connections. Do you have any idea?

Yeah, I have an idea... that's not a WiFi adapter! The Atheros AR8131 is a gigabit Ethernet controller, the kind you use to connect via cable.

Which other devices do you have under Network adapters or without driver in the Device Manager? You can check it by running "devmgmt.msc", post the IDs of any that shows up with a yellow triangle or is listed under the Network adapters category.

I'm posting what I have  here to give you a sense of some that are unimportant:

That's the one, you're missing the driver for the other network controller. Can you post a screenshot of the Details tab? Select the property "Hardware Ids", with that we ought to be able to find you one.

Do the same for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4300 above, there seems to be a problem with that one. Post a screen of the Driver tab (so we know what the current version is) and the Details tab with the Hardware Ids property visible.

It is very strange becausee WiFi worked earlyer. I made a misstake and installed win 10 on the computer and it was of course to much for the old Acer. I emtied the SSD with "diskpart" and installed Windows 7 instead. And now no working WiFi.

    I see, it's a Centrino N1000 card, give these a try.

For the ATI card it's trial and error in my experience. Those older cards are picky on which drivers you use with them, most of the times the ones Windows Update installs are alright but sometimes you have to resort to installing and uninstalling several versions until you find one that suits you.

Remember there's a support page for that laptop with drivers by the way: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/support-product/1123
