I have an Acer Nitro 5 . How can I change my laptop display to run on GTX 1650 instead of vega 8 ? . I just saw in nvidia control panel that my display is running on vega 8 and I just wanted to change it to GTX 1650 .

    Hi. You may try to disable the internal GPU from device manager. It will run fine until you start gaming.

    There is terrible FPS drop with the Vega 8 turned off. I know it's confusing but it seems like Vega 8 and the discreet GPU runs in tandem and only when higher load on GPU is detected the GPU is switched accordingly. Like sometimes when you open a graphic heavy website you will see thr discreet GPU firing up although it could have been handled easily by 2GB of Vega 8.

    I think the hardware switching is controlled by AMD algorithm. Disabling the internal GPU offsets that.

    You may try and let me know your experience.

    I mean at least when I remember when I bought the laptop the laptop display used to run  on gtx 1650 but then it somehow changed over to Vega 8 graphics  . It didn't affect gaming performance that much bn it still I am curious as to why and how it happened. Itvmost probably happened after updating the nvidia and and graphic drivers I guess .
