Burnt out parts and smoke

Suddenly it turned off and the electrical connector going in burnt up it’s all black and the VGA connection on back has black marks. 
It’s old but why? Acer S201HL. Thanks.

    Very much fried, sorry to say repair is likely to cost more than replace. Something in the VGA circuit shorted, which melted that power input is what it looks like.

    Thanks for the response. I'm trying to avoid that as I don't have a clue about doing that. It's an Acer S201HL from 2011. The VGA connection on back of monitor has black marks on it.
