Windows 10 broke my way of disabling Intel Boost from locking the CPU to 2.2Ghz Laptop overheats

Microsoft has a way of breaking things whenever it updates, especially the big "feature" updates.  I have had my Predator PH315-51 from overheating by disabling turbo boost in the CPU section of advanced power management settings since I am locked out of the BIOS.  Now that setting is gone and gone from "off" to either "on" or "Aggressive"  now my idling temps have gone from 39 degrees to over 60 degrees and even a small load pushes it to 98-99 degrees until the laptop crashes (WHEA Uncorrectable Error) from overheating.  I tried using XTU but it won't push down the clock speed.  HELP!

I restored Windows back to 1909 but it's only a matter of time before 2004 is forced onto it causing it to overheat.  I wish ACER would release a BIOS update allowing people to disable Intel Turbo Boost.

Hoover1979 youre not forced to anything you can disable windows updates completely just google it its easy also you dont need to disable turbo boost u need to optimise your windows properly and undervolt check here and if still needed if you can without voiding your warranty repaste it with kryonaut oe similar make sure the fans and exit airflow are cleaned properly and that the laptop back its lifted 2/3 inches for a proper airflow thats the proper way to lower the temps on any gaming laptop disabling the turbo boost its crippling it also do not use xtu its complete intel garbage use ts but make sure to remove xtu completely shutdown and reset bios to defaults before even try to use ts also do not accept the thread as solved if its not this way everyone with the same issues will think you solved it

The “Windows Update” versions and “OS builds” has nothing to do with "disabling turbo boost" as you can change and reset that with, going to advanced power settings and scroll down to Processor power management and expand it to "Maximum processor state" and modify both "On battery" and "Plugged in" from 99% to 95%, simple, can't see where your problem is?

Also, have you tried to repaste and clean the cooling fans or use a laptop cooler? Or see if your fans are not working 100% and not stopping prematurely? As what you said "a small load pushes it to 98-99 degrees until the laptop crashes" is not normal and it shouldn’t be happening, you must have other problems! Disabling turbo boost will not solve any of and whatever other problems you have and its not the only way to stop overheating. I would suggest that you seriously look at other faults and problems that could be wrong within your laptop (as I suggested above) and systematically diagnose them, as a laptop "crashing due to high temps" is very a serious problem and it could damage your cpu/gpu and make your laptop unworkable.

Have a look at all the cooling components and see if there is any other problems
