I'm  having a horrible time trying to compare different versions of the spin 1--should i get chromebook or windows version, with or without stylus capability. Also, if I get windows s version and switch to regular home version, will it still run okay or is it too underpowered for that. please HELP! I'm at my wits end going through all of this. And any advice about this would be really really great. I know it's an older computer but it's only for an 8 year old.

My personal preference would be to go with Windows touchscreen. I don't use a stylus because I never need that much precision. I do, however, want to be able to install Windows programs that aren't in the app store, so Windows S is no good for me. A Chromebook version is fine as long as you do nothing but web browsing, but I've got too many Windows utilities I use on a regular basis.

thanks. How will windows home version work with that power, do you think? I mean, if you are in a position to judge that. It has 4gb ram, but only 1.1 hz processor, that's why I'm worried. I'd had to get it out of S and have it still run well. And not fall apart.

IIRC most all of the Spin 1 models have either a dual core or quad core processor running at 1.1GHz. For a low end machine that's going to be quite capable. With 4GB of memory you should be fine with running Windows and most applications. You'll bog down with graphics intensive apps, such as games and things like video editing, and with processor intensive apps like 3D CAD or software simulation. What do you use your computer for mostly?

It's for my third grade daughter for school. I got a chromebook version but I'm having trouble with it. the cp311-2h It won't pair up with our bluetooth speakers, wouldn't go off mute in skype, can't do a split screen so she can't run zoom and roblox at the same time with her friends. So I am thinking about switching over to this sp111-32N, which is about the same price, but at a different store that is no so good at returns so trying to make a good decision.

Then this one will be just about perfect. She'll end up tasking it, but that isn't likely to be for a while. Kids really start to get into pushing the limits closer to 5th-6th grade. :)

Thanks a lot Bill. It's hard to choose with so many almost the same, and about the same price, with slight differences. This sp111-32n has a better screen (full hd) than the sp111-33 but a slightly slower processor. I was just afraid that if I have to move to the regular windows from windows in s mode the 1.1 ghz processor would falter, since it's the bare minimum that windows 10 needs to run.

It comes down to how long it will be before she outgrows it, or drops it on something hard... I got similar systems a few years ago for my grand kids at about the same age and they were pretty much all running something different by 6th grade.

Yes, well, that's the issue isnt it? She'll be in 4th grade in the fall. She's not much of a multitasker, at this point, but does want to run roblox and zoom at the same time. Watch netflix movies. Do a typing program. Learn Ukulele on youtube. that kind of stuff. I think we will need to be in regular windows, not just windows home s, because microsoft is not a fan of zoom (given that they own skype).

Yeah, if she's going to want to Zoom and Roblox at the same time she's going to want to be out of S mode. I don't think it's Microsoft blocking it, but instead Zoom doesn't see a business reason yet to support that mode. You might think about going the Spin 3 route instead of Spin 1. If cost is a significant consideration Acer sells refurbished Spin 3 models at not a whole bunch more than the Spin 1 price.

Thanks Billsey. Now I have another question. I received the second Acer.So now I have a cp311-2H and a sp111-32n. The sp111 is supposed to have a full hd display and the cp311 is supposed to just has 1366 x 768 or whatever, but that one has a much nicer, cleaner picture than the one that is supposed to be full hd. I'm comparing on youtube videos looking at the same one for each, on netflix the difference is negligible, but the still the one with full hd should be better, WAY better. Could I be missing drivers or something? is it the browser? why isn't the one that has full hD a much cleaner, clearer display?

Right click on the Desktop and choose Display Settings. What does it show there for the Scale and Layout? Is it set to a custom scaling or one of the standard ones?

hi billsey, sorry, i went off camping. how do you right click on a touch pad? if i go through settings, if that's the same thing, scale and layout is "150% (recommended)"

also, the spin 3 sounds great, but we like the size of this little 11incher.

There are actual buttons hidden under the lower bit of the touchpad. So, you press the pad at bottom right and it gives you a right click.
