Hey, my laptop model is A717-72G-700J. I had 256 GB installed when I purchased this laptop and I want to add another 1 TB SSD.

Can I add another SSD without removing the first one?

I would like to use Crucial P1 1 TB or Crucial mx500 1 TB as secondary SSD. I want to have 1256 GB SSD space in total.

  • No. This model only has a single m2 2280 slot. But its model accepts ssd m2 2280 sata 3, nvme gen3x4 and also the optane memory. Now, maybe you can purchase a 2.5 "caddy to put the other ssd in place of the hdd:
25 nvme para m2 ngff pcie x4 ssd substituir u2 SFF 8639 intel

I think the answer given above is wrong. Although I haven't tried it myself yet, I am pretty sure this model comes with an empty bay for a secondary 2.5" drive. A 2.5" SATA SSD should fit right in there.

So you would NOT be able to install the Crucial P1, that being an NVMe drive. But it should be possible to install a Crucial MX500, or anything that fits the 2.5" form factor.

Please verify & do your own research before you buy anything, as you are responsible for your money. I haven't tried this myself yet.
