My Acer Apsire 7741G laptop does not boot up anymore. I had this laptop for about 6 years. It worked perfectly fine until I locked it away in the attic for 3 years. Now it's laying on my desk again.

I tried booting it up and it worked perfectly. I got to the desktop and tried moving my photos from the pc onto my USB Stick. But in the process of that my laptop crashed and rebooted.
Normal - I thought and tried moving the photos again. But again it crashed and rebooted. But this time it got stuck on the screen that says "Acer - Empowering People". I waited for about half an hour and nothing happened. I pressed F2, heard a brief "beep" but then nothing. I couldn't turn the laptop off, so I just unplugged it from the socket.

I tried this a few more times the exact same way. But now it doesn't even beep anymore when I press F2. No reaction. It is just frozen.

It's operating system was Windows 7. When the laptop froze, I even tried to insert the Windows 7 Recovery disk. The laptop seemed to read it but again no response.

My laptop now sits disassembled on my desk. I removed the keyboard, the thing where you put CD disks in, the HHD and the Lithium Battery. I thought I could figure out what the problem is, but I am by no means an expert so I have no Idea what all of this stuff even is.

Please help me. I hope I can still fix this bad boy and I will provide you with more details, if you need them.

Until then, bye

Remove the charger. Pull the battery out. Plug the charger back in. Does it boot without the battery?
If not, shut it down again by pressing and holding the power button. Then press and hold the F2 key. Try to turn it back on again. The BIOS menu should appear. Press F9 to set defaults. Press F10 to save setting and exit. Does it boot now?

I pressed F2, and it made a beeping noise. But now its frozen there instead. It says "Entering SETUP". But nothing else happens. Just a few noises by the laptop. Maybe I should mention, that the laptop gets pretty hot pretty fast. So maybe that is related to the problem.

Now it works by battery alone by the way. I just reassembled it again and now it runs with only the battery. But is still frozen.
Before, that was not the case.

It doesn't turn on when the battery is inside the laptop. Either with or without the charger.
It only turns on when connected to the socket and with the battery removed.

Pressing and holding the power button does not shut it down. It doesn't react.

Hold it! Remove the charger. Remove the battery. Plug the charger back in without the battery. Press & hold the F2 key again. Press the power button to turn it back on. Does it enter the BIOS setup menu now? Jack E/NJ

I did remove battery and charger, put the charger back in and tried to turn it on. Now it doesn't even turn on anymore. I think I broke it.

With battery still removed, unplug the charger. With both charger and battery removed, press and hold the power button for one minute. Then plug only the charger back in, no battery. Then try to turn the machine on again on charger alone. Jack E/NJ

I did exactly what you demanded. But it had no effect. And yes, the socket actually emits electric energy. Just in case you are asking.

With a multimeter, check the voltage output of the charger plug between its outer ring and its center hole connectors. It should be about 19v DC. Jack E/NJ

I'm afraid I do not own a multimeter. But I can assure you that my charger cable is working perfectly, because even with the battery, the laptop doesn't turn on. And the battery is fully charged.

(If you wish to answer me, please consider doing that on my new post I created, because I accidently marked this one as solved. Thank you!)
