Hi, I keep getting an OS is missing or damaged message. I tried a recovery USB stick, it seems to work then I get the same message again. I can't do a powerwash or go in safe mode from that screen. Is it a mb issue or there's something else I can try? Thanks!

It depends. The obvious potential problem would be a failing drive. Does it work OK once you get it up?

@billsey When I put the recovery usb, I get the system recovery screen, after a few minutes it asks me to remove the usb stick and it brings me back to the OS is missing or damaged screen

Well, that certainly sounds more like a failed drive. Which model Chromebook do you have?

@billsey yeah I was afraid it was a drive issue. It's an Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-131. Thanks

Yeah, as expected your model comes with an eMMC drive that's soldered to the motherboard. Not a lot to be done unless you've got the tools and expertise to do surface mount rework. I'm guessing you are out of warranty since that design is like four years old now... :(
