Popped an 8GB memory module into slot 2 and no joy (installed correctly, not my first rodeo). Anyone else have this issue with their V5 not detecting a memory module? Patriot's only advice was to update to the latest BIOS release, which I already updated and memtest86 shows no errors. Also tried reseating the module several times and nothing. Has anyone else run into this problem? And if so, where you able to get it to work?

While the soldered RAM socket has only one-channel support to the CPU, the replaceable socket has two-channel support. Accordingly, the specsheet recommends a dual channel capable 8GB module. While a single channel module ***should*** work, sometimes a two-channel socket can be fussy about which manufacturer's single-channel module gets plugged into it. Jack E/NJ

Thank you JackE for the fast response, it would appear you've encountered this issue before, or know of someone who has, are there any manufacturers that you know of (single or dual channel capable) that works well with this model laptop?

Crucial is usually a Micron module. If it also doesn't work, you have a hardware issue.

Appreciate you. Gonna try the Crucial / Micron module and update this post in case anyone else with the same issue is looking for a resolution too. What's interesting is that after opening a ticket with Patriot support, their response was that it hasn't worked with any Acer V5 models as of yet.

Well, I'm not sure about Patriot, but if you first check the Crucial site before purchase from them or from another vendor like Amazon, it will usually indicate whether or not the module has actually been verified to work OK in your particular model. If not, it has download software to check you system. Jack E/NJ
