Hi, I have a 2 year old Acer Aspire which I normally only use once or twice a week. Annoyingly, depsite the low useage the laptop screen seems to have a hardware fault. The screen keeps freezing and the colours look washed out. If I tap the screen or move it the problem goes away but only briefly. At first this only happened occasionally but now it happens all the time to the point where the laptop is virtually unusable.I've tried connecting a second monitor and everything works perfectly on that which suggests it's a hardware problem. Due to coronavirus lockdown I can't take it to a computer repair shop so I would like to try and fix this myself if possible. I', reasonably tech minded but far from an expert. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? I removed the screen and had a look and there doesn't seem to be anything loose or burnt out etc. Hope you can help.

What I'm now noticing is that once the picture freezes if I tap the monitor it briefly comes back but if I don't do anything the screen just gradually fades until it's completely white.

For what it's worth I did try removing the scree, pulling out the cable that connect the screen to the laptop but it made no difference. There is no obvious problem when I look inside the laptop but as I say I'm not an expert.
