Is my new SSD broken or am I doing something wrong?

I have a Aspire 5 (A515-51G-53MR)

I bought a m.2 PCIe NVMe SSD to replace my current SSD. I also bought a USB 3.1 adapter to connect my new SSD to my laptop. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard to clone all the data from my current drive to my new drive and set my new drive as the boot drive in the BIOS.

Problem: My screen says "no bootable drive" when I try to open up my laptop with my new drive.

Why I think my new SSD is broken: When I was cloning my disks, it said "drive can not be read" and "drive can not be written on". Furthermore, it told me that the data on my current drive would be all deleted after the process but it never was.

Am I missing something or is my new SSD being an overcooked steak?

What do you mean by this? Is the new nvme in the mainboard's m.2 slot or not? Jack E/NJ

Did you Initialize, make a partition, and format the drive before you started?
