+1 I had the issue on ~August when I first updated the 2004, and reverted back because VmMem at that time was doing memory leaks (reserving but not freeing the memory) and there were sleep issue as well.
Since this time hyper-v is available in 1909 (the version laptop came in stock) right now. I thought of updating to WSL2, and this time it was also my project requirement, I had to install hyper-V, and I can confirm (without doing any updates) only turning on Hyper-V and Hypervisor platform, there's sleep issue.
After "Fresh start" (factory reset) sleep starts to work again with Windows 10. I can use sleep function with Windows, but I can't use it with Ubuntu 20.10. This gives me a headache.
I've contacted Acer about this issue, they noted, that they're working on it. BIOS is passing qualification and should be released somewhere about December, so sleep issue should be fixed.
BTW: thank you Acer for “great” support. More than half a year I’m trying to use this laptop but it even shutdowns sometimes due to it tries to sleep (even though I turned off all ways to make it sleep). Other laptops with such a problem got BIOS update approx three month ago. Will always “recommend” your laptops to all my friends.

Yeah. What bothers me the most is what you mention: other brands with the same problem have been able to identify and solve the issue months ago, and yet Acer still hasn't delivered the fix. Which is a pity, because this is a really good laptop, besides this particular issue.
Anyway, I have been able to completely avoid the issue; I have my energy profile set up to *never* sleep, and I configured both my power button and closing the lid to hibernate. I haven't had an unwanted sleep/restart since. But it would really be nice to be able to use this basic computer functionality... Still waiting for the BIOS update. Hope it'll come this month.
Hi guys! Why no one is talking about the fact that this post is "partially" solved with an "accpeted answer" ? No one can solve the problem with this answer, it's like : "umm that's definitely not Acer the problem". Thanks to all the moderators of the forum, but it hurts a lot to hear that... we don't have an official solution for that, a one that WORKS! We all hope a new BIOS will be posted within weeks... c'mon Acer, you have one job! 😊
I never had the issue until upgrading to bios 1.08 but I'm not sure if it was BIOS or Windows upgrade. Currently running Windows 10 Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.685).
It's quite frustrating so if any has a fix or workaround I would sure appreciate hearing about it.
Well if you turn it off, there wouldn't be any problem, problem only happens if you have virtualization service like Hyper-V is on (which is one of my requirement, for WSL2 and Docker, so can't turn it off).
Ok. So we need as many confirmations as we can in this topic with UNSOLVED mark . Also go to acer.com/support and fill a ticket. This is how we get their attention.
Has anyone had access to the pre-release 1.09 BIOS with the fix? From the post I linked above to the GitHub thread, I'd understand that some people has had access to it... If so, can anyone comment about it, if it's working, etc.?
Welp. I just ended a support chat session. They told me that there is no specified time frame for releasing the new firmware version. Furthermore, there was no chance to let me try the pre-release 1.09 firmware at my own risk. So, we still have to play the waiting game, I guess.
Anyway, I stressed out the impact of the issue again. Let's hope this info gets to the technical teams to see if they can hurry up the process of releasing this update.
