My Acer Nitro 5 an515-42 's battery is being weird

I have been using this laptop regularly for the past 2 years or so without a single problem. Yesterday I noticed that the battery was stuck at 95 percent and not charging, while the battery LED indicator was blinking.
Today in the morning I tried the official Acer Battery reboot method (Press the power button for 15s powered down and unplugged and the clip in the battery hole for 5s), and the unnoficial coomunity way (pin in the hole for 15s and then powered down for 30m). I also uninstalled windows battery drivers and rebooted into safe mode.
What is curious about this, is that I installed the recent bios (the one from 2020), and while the bios was installing the Led wasn't blinking but it wasn't charging either.
AIDA64 reported a 10% wear level on 95%. I disconnected the power plug and let the battery drain. It's now on 84%, won't charge up past 85% and the wear level is 6%. Both AIDA64 and Acer Care Center detect that the battery is in a good status.

I don't have the capacity of purchasing a new battery and changing it myself; or sending it to a Acer Center because I'm not in US (I'm in Cuba right now).

Any suggestions?

  • Some users who have the model a315-41, also reported some problems with the battery, after updating the bios to version 1.17. both models a315-41 and an515042 use the same motherboard.

I updated after the problem started. Nevermind now, the problem is solved.
I discharged the laptop up to 70%, I plugged in to see if it charged up to 71% and then stopped (like it was doing on 85%). The laptop just finished charging up to 100% almost 10 mins ago and now it shows the correct wear level of the battery (11%)

So I'm going to guess that this is an issue with the battery's sensor reporting bad data to the BIOS of the PC.
