My Aspire A715-72G has problems charging - when I plug in the charger it doesn't charge the battery (it doesn't shut down or drain the battery but it stays at the same percentage for hours). The problem started to occur maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was gaming on the laptop and it suddenly shut down hinting it might have overheated,so I restarted it and it booted normally ish. In device manager it showed my graphics card (Gtx 1050 ti) had an error,so I restarted the driver and it got fixed. Then I noticed something weird, the battery indicator was flashing red even though I had the charger plugged in. I used the device that way for 2-3 days since I had important work and didn't have an option to send it to a service (which I still don't have). At some point during those days I started hearing a whine coming from the laptop. I couldn't locate the source, however I found out that when I unplugged the charger the sound stopped. That got me really worried and I checked my components with the acer care center tool which found no problems. I searched both here and on other websites for a solution and I found something that helped me or so I thought. I left the battery to get fully drained while at the same time uninstalling both battery drivers and once the laptop shuts down I would press the button on the bottom of the device for 5-10 seconds to reset the battery. At first that helped, the laptop was charging and it was fine, however later I noticed that when I unplug the charger and plug it in again it won't charge unless I repeat the same steps I mentioned before. The laptop is quite new,I got it at the end of December and is still in warranty, however due to the virus I can't bring it for repair. Hope the information I provided is sufficient.
