Good day,

I am looking at upgrading the BIOS for a Aspire 5750 laptop. It currently has BIOS Version/Date Acer V1.15, 2011-10-07. In the support area the latest BIOS is Ver 1.21 titled simply BIOS, dated 13 November 2012.

My question is two-fold:

1) Do I simply load the latest version (1.21) to get the most up to date BIOS (all the updates are included from 1.15 to 1.21)

2) In the area of drivers and manuals, the drop down menu to pick operating system only offers Windows 7 or Windows 8. Do I select Windows 8 64 bit? Not sure if it matters for that BIOS version.

The recent need to upgrade may have to do with a conflict with MS Office - I can no longer get any application of Office to open - no matter how I go about it (app launch, file launch, and right click, open with). Uninstalled and re-installed MS Office several times - no luck. MS forum someone said it might be BIOS (old).

This is what is in/on the laptop:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363
Other OS Description Not Available
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Manufacturer Acer
System Model Aspire 5750
System Type x64-based PC
System SKU
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2401 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Acer V1.15, 2011-10-07
SMBIOS Version 2.7

Thanks for any advice - PS I have a newer laptop that works fine but this one I drag around with me - not worried about breaking on the road lol.
