What is LCD Overdrive?

Probably a bit of a silly question but Im new to PC gaming and only know the basics of specs etc, I have a predator Helios 300 laptop, When i go into predator sense theres an option for LCD overdrive... what is it? xD

    Nathan9505 Overdrive decreases the time it takes for a pixel to transition from one state to the next.
    A well-tuned overdrive can do this with little to no visual artifacts.
    A poorly tuned overdrive will overshoot -- going farther than the desired state -- before it settles back at the intended state. This can result in what's called reverse-ghosting of moving objects.

    Resuming if you switch on overdrive and start to suffer from ghosting i suggest you switch it off
