Why does laptop seem to connect/disconnect freuently when plugged in? Also randomly shuts down.

Since about a week now, when plugged in for charging, the laptop seems to disconnect for a few seconds, then connects again and charges, then maybe 20 seconds later disconnects again. Repeat. It does not always happen and I cannot establish a pattern. Today it has been quiet, for example. Also, the laptop randomly shuts down at least a couple of times a day, when the battery is nowhere near zero (eg 40%, 30%). I would appreciate any insight to these 2 issues. Model is Aspire E5-575, N16Q2. Thank you in advance.

Open DeviceManager. Click batteries folder. Right click on each driver and uninstall. Exit DeviceManager without trying to install anything. Shut down Windows. Then re-start Windows. If problem persists, it's like your battery may be nearlng the end of its useful life. We can try to run diagnostics to check that out too. Jack E/NJ

Thank you Jack. I removed these (2) and restarted, however, they were reinstalled again. I tried a few times with the same result. So for the moment I have simply disabled them. The immediate downside being you don't see how much battery life is left as the icon is no longer displayed. But so far so good, no issues. I will come back in a day or too with a definitive result. The batteries folder drivers are supposed to be automatically reloaded by Windows on reboot just in case they were corrupted previously. You should not disable them since they are fresh uncorrupted copies of the drivers. Jack E/NJ
