Use of touchscreen computer with second monitor without touch function

Hi everybody,

I got a general question regarding the combination of a touchscreen computer together wit a second monitor or a projector, which is has no touch capability:
Is there any other option to use such a second monitor than with a mouse? For example: Are there special shortcuts in Windows that allow the movement and operation of the mouse pointer on the second screen (I know, there is an otion to mouve the mouse pointer with the keys of the numeric keypad; but I don't have this key pad on my computer)? Or is there a programm out there the allows to copy the mouse movements and operations from the touch screen to a second monitor?

My piont is the following: I have a W700 Iconia, which has only one USB connection, that usually is used to provide power for the bluetooth keyboard that comes with the W700 Iconia, or I let it run on it own battery while an external HD is attached. Anyway, this USB port usually is already used. So, once I connect a projector, I also have to use a USB hub (normaly with phantom power, etc.) because I have to use a mouse. And then I am at the point where this USP for the Iconia (operate your PC by simple gesture and with only little equipment necessary) is off.

So, does anybody have an idea if there is a solution in windows, a programm that allows transfer of mouse operations on the touscreen to a second screen or any other hack that does the trick? Thanks for any constructive feedback. Best regards, Wolfgang.

None that I'm aware of, and an external touchscreen monitor also uses an extra USB port. I've always suggested a hub to deal with it, as you are doing. It might be possible for a developer to do something involving a picture in picture where movement over the PNP window translates to mouse movements on the second monitor, but it'd be really tough to do anything accurately.

    Hi billsey,

Thanks a lot for your feedback. In fact, that's what I've expected, already. Sad, but there probably nothing we can do about it. I gave it  try, and besides, I am happy so far with my equipment. Take care and best regards, Wolfgang

I'm happy I could answer your question, though a bit sad it wasn't the answer you hoped for. :)

The touchmousepointer works fine - recommendable... ;-).
