Very regularly happens to me. This is a joke!
I bought this laptop 1mth old from my sister. She was never having this problem, she has Talk Talk super fibre hub. I have the Virgin Media 3.0 hub.

    Nitro AN515-54-73M5
    Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz
Network adapter driver 21.10.1.2   dated 24/4/2019

    Virgin 3.0 HUB

    Hardware version    : 10
    Software version    : 9.1.1811.401
    2.4GHz wireless mode 802.11b/g/n mixed
    5GHz wire mode 802.11/a/n/ac mixed

When I check connected devices on the hub, it reads the laptop as being on 5G.

Within device manager on the laptop, current settings for the WiFi (advanced):
802.11/a/b/g wireless mode set to: 6. Dual Band 802.11/a/b/g
    802.11/n/ac/ax wireless mode set to: 4. 802.11ax

Should I try changing any of these settings? I've done the off/on with the router. No other devices have ever dropped off of my wifi.

Within device manager (press windows key and just type device manager).
Click network adapters. Click  WiFi 6 etc. Go to advance settings.
I've changed "Roaming Aggressiveness" to "1. Lowest".
(For others with same problem, this reduces your laptop trying to constantly connect to other networks (i.e. in search for better connection).

I've read online about setting permissions to block your laptop from other connections... if anyone else wants to try, I've just done it. I'll see if it helps.
Press Windows Key + X  and select either Command Prompt (Admin)  or PowerShell (Admin). You will have 1 of them.

    Then type the below code:
    netsh wlan add filter permission=block ssid=TYPENETWORK networktype=infrastructure

The TYPENETWORK needs to be replaced with the names of the other networks your laptop is finding.
I.e. when you go to connect to your own wifi.. the other ones it can see... they are the network names. As they appear.

It seems long doing for all the networks but easiest way:
Press wifi logo bottom right, press print screen button above backspace key, go into paint and simply paste with Ctrl+V.
Open notepad, type all network names (from the print screen) onto a notepad in a vertical list.
Copy the part of the code left hand side of TYPENETWORK... paste it all down left hand side of the network names 1 by 1... then do same for the code to right hand side. Then open that command box (Ctrl+X etc). Hold Ctrl+V to paste. Press enter. Copy the next in the list, repeat.

Why would this get moved from thread I commented in?  Me and the guy had the exact same laptop model lol hardly different...

Agressivness should be highest and the band should be fixed 2,4 or 5.

Thanks I have changed aggressiveness to highest....  what does this do by the way?

When you say fix the band, do you mean the option within the adapter to make preferred 2G or 5G? I've now made that 5G. Would you expect this to fix it? Is there anything else that could help ?

It increases the sensitivity of the card

    YES!
    I've now made that 5G.
    OK!
Would you expect this to fix it?
    I don`t have problems anymore!

    That should be enough.

Well this is what I thought. It seems to be laptop/router combination, or a combination of settings... though I don't know!
  • Today's wireless network cards have incompatibilities with drafts of older routers. Try disabling WMM on the router and also enable the WPA2 password only.
