I have an Acer Nitro 50-600, model D17E5.  From right out of the box (ordered from Amazon in October), if doing anything mildly intensive on hardware, it would shut off abruptly after a short while. It mostly does it during gaming, but the games I play are not necessarily intensive on hardware; for example The Sims 4.  Usually, around 10-15 minutes of gameplay, and it does it.  Creating Microsoft documents, web browsing, editing photos in GIMP; it can do that without issue.  Yet, even something as a mildly intensive web game will cause it to cut off. It has also done it randomly. Recently, it was giving me a ton of BSODs with "KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE", which as I learned was the result of needing to update the BIOS drivers. Secondly, I thought it could be due to my using a HDMI to VGA adapter in order to use an older Acer monitor from 2015 (which was originally on the mid-end consumer Asus the Nitro replaced), but I don't think that's it, as it happened the last time I swapped the Acer for a 24" Samsung HDTV. Didn't test it this time when I redid it .I ran the Windows memory check (can't figure out how to run MemTest86), and it said everything was fine. Same with my antivirus.

It would always give off one short beep upon startup. I thought that was RAM failure, but it is apparently normal. It will, quite regularly, get laggy in everyday computing.

So, what am I dealing with here, and how can I fix it? I ordered a new RAM card (16GB) to upgrade the stock, but am hoping I don't have to yet, given the Nitro 50 is a little cramped inside the case.

    Hello @cody6268

Randomly shutting off is not normal.  It could be a power supply problem, but you should contact Acer Customer Support.  Don't worry, they will diagnose the problem and fix it since you just bought it in October.  See link below.
