Hi all,

Been struggling with this problem for about a year (ever since buying the unit), every now and then when I'm playing certain games, my frames per second will drop to about 20~ for a period of about 3 seconds, then shoot back up to its' normal value. This only happens in some games, for example, I am playing in the Valorant closed beta at the moment and it's awful in that game, every minute or so this will happen. However, I can be playing games that are far more demanding, such as the new COD:MW, or PUBG or even The Witcher 3 with absolutely 0 problems whatsoever.

Some information:
  • My laptop is running atop a cooling pad with 3 fans underneath on a small elevation to ensure air-flow is good (this has helped a little)
  • My laptop is upgraded with 16GB ram and a 1TB SATA SSD (very recently so I know this isn't a problem)
  • The fps spikes only seem to happen whilst Turbo is turned on
  • I am using a custom profile on Throttlestop which you can see below
  • In Valorant which is the main culprit, I am limiting my FPS to 120 due to my using a 120hz external monitor
  • I have checked the thermal paste which seems to be fine and not stale
I was wondering, maybe lowering the max speed turbo can work would perhaps be a workaround?
If you require any more information, please let me know!

PS. that max temperature reading is not accurate, I have been keeping track of it over the last several hours whilst playing Valorant, it is usually as high as 98c at its' worst.
