Hi

I have an Acer Chromebook 14 CB3-431-C5CQ
SN: NXGC2EK007XXXXX
SNID: XXXXX

I'm having an issue with the display, the screen has gone black/ very dim. I have power washed the device but it is still the same even with the brightness on maximum. In good light and at the correct angle, I am able to see the display so I was able to mirror my screen onto my tv via HDMI. The display on the tv is bright and clear.

Please let me know what other steps can be taken to resolve the issue, if anyone knows.

Many thanks

The video ribbon cable (part # 50.GC2N5.004) likely needs to be replaced from the wear and tear of opening and closing the lid too much. Google the part number for a vendor convenient to your location. Usually less than $20USD. Jack E/NJ

Thanks for the info JackE. I managed to find the fault! I ended up opening the laptop up and found that the video ribbon cable had become partially dislodged from the pcb. It didn't plug back in with a satisfying click though. It's the 1st time the laptop has ever been opened, so I think it was a bad connection from manufacture waiting to disengage.

Good find! It's usually held in there with tape. No satisfying click. You could use duct tape. Jack E/NJ

Yea man, the tape had come away and looked a bit dry with no tack so I put a new strip of clear tape on.
