Hi you guys,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me out in doing this. I really want to upgrade because I have a gtx 1070 and the weak processor is really bottlenecking my GPU. What are the steps to doing this? How exactly do I do a BIOS update and there are so many versions, which one do I update my PC to (I'm really scared about bricking the system). Right now it's running R02-B0, 12/15/2017, which one to I upgrade to. Will I need a new cooler as well, or is the stock cooler just fine (because both the CPUs are the same wattage)? I will etransfer some $$$ for some help, cuz Im really confused and nervous about upgrading. Thanks so much if anyone can help!

You shouldn't need a BIOS update to go from an i5-7400 to i7-7700, but you might want to double check their power draw. If the i7 needs more power than the i5, you'll want to upgrade the cooling to match that extra load... So, looking at the Wikipedia page on Kaby Lake processors, the two draw the same 65W of power, you don't have to worry about cooling unless you go to the i7-7700K model, which uses about half again as much power.
