I really like my Acer Spin 1, but have never been able to fix the memory issue on it. What is the best solution to fix the problem? I have read some of the threads and would like to know what is the best alternative:

1. Buying an sd card for additional storage, if so what's the maximum storage my laptop will allow?

2. Increasing laptop memory from 4GB to 8GB since that is the maximum that my laptop will allow?

So, some of the SP111-31 models came with an eMMC drive (32GB or 64GB), some came with a SATA HDD (500GB). I'm assuming since you are having issues updating the OS that you have the 32GB eMMC drive. Unfortunately that drive is not upgradable since it's soldered to the MB. What you can do however is drop a 2.5" SATA SSD in and transfer the OS from the eMMC to the SSD, leaving the UEFI and recovery partitions on the eMMC. There is a short cable that goes from the motherboard to the HDD (Acer part number 450.0A804.0011 or 450.0A804.0001) and that may not be in there if you have the eMMC. There is also a bracket that fits around the drive (Acer part number 33.GL5N1.001) and three screws to hold the bracket in place, M2x3.5mm.
Upgrading the memory is pretty easy, you just want to make sure you get the correct DDR3L 1600MHz SODIMM. It can be 2GB, 4GB or 8GB.
