Acer 5 stuck in preparing automatic repair

Okay so I have a refurbished acer nitro 5 laptop. It's been fine until today and I was using it as I normally do and walked away to make a phone call, leaving the laptop on with the desktop showing and only photoshop running. I'm not sure what happened while i was away as I love alone, however upon my return I found the laptop had a black screen with the acer logo in the middle and a white subtext saying "diagnosing your PC". It then, all on it's own, turned to a blue screen that was titled Automatic Repair and underneath it said "your PC did not start correctly" with some more text and to the right the option to either restart or choose advanced options.
After restarting a few times I opted to choose advanced options. The option that I was given after this were to continue, use a device, use another operating system, troubleshoot, and turn off your pc.
I have tried a few times to reset my pc while keeping my personal files. What happens is this:
I choose to reset my pc and then keep my files.
There is then a screen which says "getting things ready".
After a couple seconds of this it says "all ready to go. Make sure PC is plugged in. Resetting will blah blah blah."
And then gives me the option to reset or cancel.
If I choose reset the screen goes dark and again shows the green acer logo, and white subtext saying "resetting this pc" then quickly changing to "resetting 1%" then, just as quickly, changing to "undoing changes" before finally bringing me back to the blue screen saying "there was a problem resetting your pc. No changes were made."
I read a few people encountered a similar problem with acer machines who said the "just kept pressing esc and that solved it", but they didn't mention WHERE or at WHAT POINT they pressed esc to do this so I dunno if that would work.
Anyhow if there is any insight as to how to solve this WITHOUT losing my personal files I would be extremely grateful. Thank you!

    Hi,
Switch off the laptop by holding down the Power button, disconnect from mains, follow the instructions in the video, leave the laptop to rest for a while(15-20Mins), reconnect AC adapter and fully charge the battery before start using the laptop. No.3 is the Pinhole for battery reset in my snip.

I gave it a try and have the same issue, except the first thing I saw when I starting up after resetting th battery is a black screen with a blue rectangle that says "harddisk security" and underneath that it has the option to select my harddrive. I do have two hard drives so I'm assuming that the one showing is the one with windows on it. Not sure if that makes sense. I'll upload a picture. To the right of my harddrive it says Lock in case that matters. If I select it and enter the password it takes me to the acer preparing automatic repair thing just as before and if I restart it just starts with acer repair.

Ugh, sorry to say it but stuff like this makes me want to switch back to mac or maybe even to linux. Maybe it would be just as bad though... anyway any insight is much appreciated.
