Firstly, it seems to me that your v1.05 released on 2019/06/19 is an old BIOS, as the latest BIOS is the v1.28 released 2020/03/23. The  v1.05 is like 6 BIOS updates behind and that could be your problem, e.g.:

    1.     v1.05 - Update Intel ME v12.0.38.1430

    2.     v1.09 - 1. Update panel table and brightness table.

    3.     v1.23 - 1. Add "Acer Dock I and Acer Dock II" PXE ROM support.

    4.     v1.25 - 1. Add panel LP156WFC-SPD5 support. 2. Add new Panasonic battery.

    5.     v1.27 - 1.Update PMC FW to fix +VCC_CORE can't power on.

    6.     v1.28 - 1. Update MCU to CA. 2. Add new discrete N18P-G62B/N18E-G1B types.3. Add panel LM156LF2F01

Update to the latest v1.28 BIOS (Click "EH50F128.exe" under Windows mode) and then try to get into BIOS through either F2key or through Win-10 at: Settings > Update & Security > Recovery (from the left menu) > Click Restart Now > Click Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings

I am having same issues on Acer Nitro 5 2019 model. I dont know about battery reset but if you keep pressing power button for around 10-12 seconds it removes the grub menu and after that i can re enter to BIOS. I havent tried debian but ubuntu based distros don't have those problems. POP os and Manjaro still give same error. My recommendation is to use ubuntu based distro or say goodbye to dual booting.

About your second issue for changing SATA to AHCI you have to go to main section of BIOS and press control+s and then that option will appear to change SATA mode from RST/Optane to AHCI.

i know this is a old thread but i finally figured out a solution for this incase anyone face same issue in future just follow this.
well this happens when you try to dual boot a systemd init distro in a UEFI mode and the solution is to use same EFI partition for both Windows and Linux.
originally windows EFI partition is only 100 MB you need  Partition manger to extend it https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html make it about a gig and while installing Linux use same partition for Linux Boot(FAT32) keep in mind not to format the boot partition while installing Linux otherwise you cant boot into windows.

if cant understand what i am saying just follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGrCFmWg3oY.
