    You put an 8th gen processor into a 5th gen MB and it worked? I'm guessing it didn't work as well as you thought, it shouldn't have worked at all! Normally you can switch gens on processors without also switching the chipset, via a different MB...

    @billsey Sorry I think you are confused. My travelmate that I just replaced had a 5th Gen dual core i7. When I researched the Spin 5 I was seeing if I could find a i5 processor that was at or above level of my old travelmate 5th Gen dual core i7. Seems the 8th gen quad core i5-8265U was the processor for me. But again there is something wrong with my Spin 5. Acer has not gotten back to me on my request, yet.

    Ah, two different machines, not an upgrade to one machine. That makes a whole lot more sense. :)
