Docking Station Question

I have an Aspire R5 that I am using with a Pluggable docking station (connected to one of the USB 3.0 ports). Overall I'm pretty satisfied with it, except for two major complaints:

1) I can't seem to wake the laptop from sleep mode with either the keyboard or mouse - I have to open the lid just enough to trigger waking it up (I tried many times tweaking USB power saving mode and  "allow this device to wake the machine" in Device Manager and nothing has worked)
2) The docking station doesn't power the laptop so I still need the cord - which means if I want to disconnect from my docking setup and take it with me I have to fish around behind my desk to unplug the cord

I'm looking at buying this USB-C docking station: https://store.acer.com/en-us/accessories/docks-port-replicators/acer-usb-type-c-dock - I'm hoping with it being an actual Acer brand it might help.

Does anyone have it (or something similar) that can tell me whether it solves one or both of my issues?

    (1) If the mouse or KB wakes the machine when connected directly to the ports, then it's your docking station. This is usually the case for most docks.
    (2) Depending on the full R5 model number R5-xxx???, the c-port may or may not support charging the laptop.
