Let me say, this PC A515-54G-70TZ is the finest machine I have ever owned.  Now that I know what is going on and how to get around it, I am "happy".  Does ACER engineering monitor these groups.  I would like them to investigate this further.  I think that they could definitively answer your questions.

I am new to ACER, so I don't know how they operate.  Should I go through their support line and reference this thread?  I think they should be aware of this problem (they may be already) and they should put somebody on it immediately.  The blue screen is also misleading.

@StevenGenActivating the safe boot  will not cause that error when the user changes the sata mode in the bios.
I know but, I stated what is my experience and an alternative to your excellent guide above. As adding a slave drive should not be such a complicated and/or difficult thing to do.

It is fixed in BIOS 1.17.  It was fixed somewhere between BIOS 1.07 that I was running and version 1.17.  Sorry for all talk on here.  I wish I would have tried the BIOS myself before I posted all this.  Now I completely happy with my A515-54G-70TZ, a great machine.
