I have been asked by a friend to repair their Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. It was manufactured on Oct 10, 2019 so it is not very old. The issue is that the screen remains completely black upon power-on, even when various well-documented key sequences are attempted or when the battery is reset. Therefore, my next step is to attempt to reflash the bios, since I understand that the bios can become corrupted. Unfortunately, the bios files that are available on the Acer web site are EXEs that do not uncompress into a bin (or similar) file that I can load onto a rescue disk. I can uncompress the EXE into a variety of individual files (using UniExtract), but a binary bios file is not among them.  There appears to be a script that must be run. Obviously, I cannot even access the bios at this point. The laptop is effectively a brick. Unless there are other suggestions that I can use to reinvigorate this laptop, I'd be grateful if someone can point me to the binary file that is the latest bios for this model. I am very technical, and am comfortable with the approach I am taking.  Thanks.
