Acer Aspire C22 Painfully slow internet connection

I purchased an Acer Aspire C22 All in One about 8 days ago, it will connect to the internet but once it has it is painfully slow.
It simply will not load a YouTube video and a Google search takes minutes.
Initially I had it set up wireless but now I have it on an Ethernet cable and it is exactly the same.
I emailed Acer 7 days ago and got a reference number and was told someone would be in touch but nothing since.
Can anyone out there help (I amusing my work laptop to type this as the Acer is useless!)

    What is running in the background? It might be doing updates that slow the whole system down, or virus scanning... I believe most of the Acer support people are working from home right now, and it's really slowing things down.

    Hi,I have checked nothing of any size is running in the background and no updates are running.

    It has been on now for 8 days straight and still the same....

    So start with a shutdown, power up cycle to make sure it's not just a glitch. Next run a virus scan to make sure you're not getting redirected. You might try something like PingPlotter to try and see if the bottleneck is local or outside.
