Hi,

As my question is in the header, I will explain a little more on the problem as best I can.

I had been using my laptop for around 2 years, when I first got it there were problems. Those were fixed, and I was happily using it again. Though my fans started playing up, that problem still remained... but wasn't too much of an issue. I assumed it was just how the laptop worked since it had done that since I got it.

There have been issues with my mic when in a call with people, static like noise that was super loud to the other person. Never found the cause, that sadly is not the issue I wish to address right now.

This is to just give you some background on the laptop, which yes had it's problems.. but still worked- at least until it crashed and no longer wanted to stay on.

Now onto the issue that needs addressing.

My acer aspire VN7-793G-7101 shutdown randomly while I was typing up a text document on google chrome while listening to music. I had assumed maybe it was due to a windows update I had not noticed which caused the shutdown. But here is where it got strange, the laptop did not load back up. I was confused but had tried to turn it back on via the power button... waited.. nothing happened.

"This is strange.. it was working this morning."

Though things are about to get even weirder. While the power button does not turn it on, any other button on the keyboard does!

Now you may assume it was just in sleep mode or hibernation. No, it was off. A few seconds after the laptop started up it shutdown. I had taken it into my dad which has some computer knowledge, even he was confused, asking what I did to the laptop. Alas, not even he could get it working with usual trouble shooting methods.

Went back to my room, and got an idea to just keep pressing a button.. well what do you know.. it didnt shut down! It stayed on, got to my desktop.. I stopped pressing the button.. yeah.. well the laptop shutdown again. This was confusing to say the least. I then asked a computer tech friend, he hadn't heard about anything like that before. So now here I am asking, hoping maybe I could get or find an answer.

I will try to answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.
Stay safe and healthy. ♡

First thing is to try a battery reset then report back.
Unplug your laptop and power down. Take a straightened paperclip and insert it into the small pinhole on the underside, press and hold for 15 secs. leave everything alone for 15 mins then plug into the power, when the battery is fully charged power back up

Please click YES if I answered your question

I am not an ACER employee
Thank you and have a blessed day  B)

@andylb Sadly, it didn't fix the problem. Still shutting off a few seconds after being turned on.

I appreciate you having tried to help.♡
