First of all, what Acer model laptop have you got? Its impossible to know anything if you don't give us the basic information! But and generally, to find out anything about drivers and their state and functionality, right click on Win Logo at the bottom left at taskbar then click "Device Manager" and see under "Mice and other pointing devices" if the touchpad driver is installed, if its not then go to the Acer site under support and look up your "Acer Laptop" and under "Drivers > Touchpad Drivers get the appropriate driver for your model, there are usually but not necessarily either an ELANTECH or Synaptics type of touchpad driver for you to install for your laptop. Otherwise and if that doesn't work then take your laptop to an Acer Service Centre, as I presume this is a new laptop and you should not open it, as your warranty would void!
