Hi, in new to the community, i resumed this model of acer aspire because i need it for my laboratory, i looked at the bios version which is currently on 1.10 phoenix bios, this laptop is factory windows 7 installed so the bios is not uefi, on the acer support/dowload page i can see 3 different type of bios, 2.18, 2.17 and 1.22, if i want to update my bios, and i don't know if is convenient, this is also why i'm asking, do i have to chose the 1.22? Is right that i can't update a legacy bios to an uefi one? I see that inside the zip file there is a readme which tells to open update.bat for the bios update, i don't undertand if is more safe to run the .bat as administrator, maybe someone here have updated the bios in this way and can give me more information that i will treasure, many thanks in andavnce.

Typically it's not recommended that you do BIOS updates unless you are having an issue the update addresses. There is just too high of a risk that something will fail during the update, leaving you with a warm brick. In your case if you needed to update the BIOS you would use 1.22. If you already had a 2.xx installed then you would use the 2.18.
