Hi, I just bought a brand new Helios 300 2019 with i7 9750, 1660ti and 512 nmve ssd. I was curious as to why my brand new laptop, which only has a few small games (Apex being the biggest one at 34gb) installed on it only had around 350gb of storage left. It turns out that my system files is huge at 26gb  and the system restore file is 9gb, while the hibernation file is 6gb. Is there any way to bring this down? I don't appreciate how system and reserved files takes up more than 10 percent of my available space. Thanks!

Right click on local disk select properties then click on disk cleanup when you click small window open then select or click on clean up system files then select unnecessary files like temporary file, window update cleanup, thumbnails, system restore files if there is then press ok this will delete junk file
Thanks. I've done that already but it only removed 300mb. I guess my question is whether or not it's normal for system files to take up 26gb for a week old laptop?
Yes,this is normal.system need some gb.
Its not releted to week old laptop because new laptops get more updates and features you system files size may be more then old laptops.

And its only 26gb taken on many users system take 46,47,75 GB while time passes .you have new laptop install good antivirus like quick heal .

Canuckerbird   Make sure you run disk cleanup and select all windows options to remove all the leftover rubbish also you can disable the restore because never worked properly on windows no matter which version  (95/98/xp/7/8/10 and so on) its a waste of space and if you dont use hibernation mode also disable it it will release more space regarding antivirus windows defender its more than enough if you have common sense but if you want better get superantispyware + nod 32 antivirus been using it for years in all the laptops that came though my hands including all the 9 i own and never had any issues but again its common sense and defender its enough unless your planning to do something else suspicious make sure you know exactly what youre doing/downloading :)

I would also advise you to get a 16gb usb drive and create a stock recovery drive via care center for safe keeping (tough this should be done by everyone the first day they boot it before windows updates)
