Hi, My acer Aspire A515-51G
when plugged in and gaming(while running on nvidia mx150 dedicated graphics) stops charging and indicator LED starts blinking and After a few minutes of gaming around 20 mins or so the battery eventually runs out. I have tried several fixes even brought a new adapter but problem continuous. It only occurs when i run games on dedicated mx150 and not while running games off Integrated graphics.
Here are the things i tried,
i. New adapter
ii. battery diagnose found battery is healthy.
iii. tried resetting battery and battery driver from dev manager.
iv. have tried different power plans as well
is there any fixes?
Thanks i advance

The battery must be near 100% charged and charger plugged in BEFORE you start gaming to extend  the playtime under maximum loads. The charger should also be at least 65watt output. Jack E/NJ

I am using a 19v charger that shipped with the laptop and same problem persist even after following the above rules.

What is the watt power output of the charger? 19volts is not watt power. I need to know how many amperes output to get watt power?  It must be at least 65 watts. 19volt times ??? amperes = ??? watts output. Jack E/NJ

watt power is not mentioned on my brick, 19v 3.42A is mentioned.
I tried undervolting cpu to -0.85V offset and undevolt the gpu at constant 950mv and now this seems to be working better than before, it throttles but not continuously.

OK, you have the 65 watt charger (19volts x 3.42amperes). It should be OK in balanced mode with NO undervolting and NO overvolting IF the battery is near 100% charged AND charger plugged in. If the machine is still throttling under these conditions, you probably need to re-paste your heat exchanger with ArcticMX4 or Kryonaut. Howeveer, I would first try vacuuming the air intake ports and blowing air through the air exhaust ports just in case dust is clogging the airways and causing overheating. Jack E/NJ

Actually the problem is of power throttling not the thermal one. MX150 hits its cap tdp quite a lot so undervolting is the only solution seems to be here.

Power throttling is a symptom of the chip heating beyond the temperature it was designed to handle. Jack E/NJ

Hi Rohit, I have the exact same laptop with similar configurations. I started facing the exact same issue as well since feb 2020.
Although I have figured out the way this issues has gotten back to normal for me. I will list down all the things that I tried so far and I hope it works for you as well.

I suggest you to try these before jumping on the final solution. We never know if any of these end up working for you.

Things that I have tried so far:-
    1. Check battery wear level i.e by using powercfg/batteryreport in cmd and check for the html report in system32 folder.
    2. Upgrade to 1TB SSD from 1TB HDD (although I did this because my HDD went bad, eventually it did not make any difference)
    3. Change the charger to another 65W charger (This didn't work either)
    4. Undervolt the laptop to -90v using Intel XTU (Didn't work)
    5. Change maximum processor state in power settings from 100%  to 75% so that laptop does not go in turbo boost mode. (This didn't make any difference for me)
    6. Formatting completely (Didnt work either)
    7. Changing Thermal paste. (Didn't make any difference)

I haven't tried changing the battery but as read on other community forums I figured out it wouldn't really make a huge difference.

What worked for me was I opened the back panel of my laptop and cleaned the power ports. I used tad bit of Acetone for cleaning but again it is not suggested by a lot of people (I did it because I had to make do with what I had)
I strictly do not suggest you to get your hands onto this if you are not sure about it, instead you can try and get it done by any professional.

First one is the power cable that connects motherboard to the charging port.
I cleaned the charging port by putting in the side of a cotton cloth and removing dirt as much as possible
then I cleaned the port on motherboard which was connected with this cable by removing the plug and using a brush to clean the insides of that port and same on the plug as well.

Did the exact same thing with battery port as well.
Removed the plug which is attached to battery and cleaned that plug with slight acetone and brush
brushed the insides of that port as well.

Connected all of it and so far I haven't faced the issue of blinking.
I have spent about 30 hours playing only heavy games like GTA V and Farcry 5 but laptop is working fine and giving its full potential.

Do let me know if you need help with anything more. I will be more than glad to help
