Recently I brought a new computer to enjoy games and do work, at first I noticed it got very hot and was getting up to 99C and I have re pasted and lowered the cpu to %70 but I don’t really see much of a difference (Down to about 80-94C)

It is an Acer Nitro AN515-53-52

Intel Core i5 8300H

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

Please give me answers if you know how to lower the temperature, Thanks

  • Hi,
I would suggest you to undervolt the CPU, there's a Pre-made profile for your CPU by one of our member @Red-Sand in this link below, use it to undervolt the CPU.

  • Hi,
Yes, it should work, undervolting will not decrease the performance and will not harm your laptop.

You need to download it and unzip it (7 ZIP is a good program) to your "Documents" folder. I just checked it and Throttlestop.exe is there

    How to use these files:
    1. Simply download (& extract if required) the folder signatured with the same CPU you have in your system and place it in "Documents"
    2. Open the folder and run the "Throttlestop.exe" and you're done. (Yes really it's that simple)

Please click YES if I answered your question

I am not an ACER employee
Thank you and have a blessed day  B)

On top of using the ThrottleStop to reduce voltage of the cpu, you can also use either a cooing vacuum like the Opolar LC-06 or using Cooling Pads like the, Havit Slim HV-F2056,Tree New Bee TNB-K0025 or  Kootek Chill Pad Matoption, which I use and they work quite well and do reduce temps by 10-15c most of the time. Yes I know that it sucks, as these gaming laptops are getting pretty hot and borderline to  the limited fan/cooling that they are equipped with! In my opinion, manufacturers should seriously consider 'Liquid Cooling' as a future option!

Make sure that you don't have any traces of previous ThrottleStop installation files in Program Files or registry, delete them, then download ThrottleStop v8.70.6 (which is the latest) from here: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-throttlestop/ and reinstall.
Un RAR, Zip the file onto your Desktop and (see caption below) and click the ThrottleStop.exe or application file for installation and go through the installation process. its impossible that you cant install ThrottleStop!

    ThrottleStop 8.70.6 TechPowerUp Edition September 19, 2018

    - ability to disable and lock the memory mapped turbo power limits.
    - added IccMax adjustment.

    - regular system tray CPU temperature updates in Stop Data mode.
    - single click system tray icons and new Logo Min option.
    - smaller Turbo Power Limits window.
    - TS 8.70.3 - fixed Task Scheduler finding RwDrv.sys bug.
    - TS 8.70.4 - fixed purple button outline in Limit Reasons.
    - TS 8.70.5 - fixed Disable Turbo applied after resuming.
